A smartphone instead of paper: Digitize paper-based processes with Oracle ERP software

Taking a step towards digitization means that companies can improve established workflows and generate real added value. One of the most popular digitization options is automating manual, paper-based processes. The Oracle ERP Cloud implementation partner PRIMUS DELPHI GROUP will present its solution for documenting services performed with the aid of a mobile application this year at the event “Collaborate 2019".

In many service businesses, the degree of automation in preparing outgoing invoices is high, and the transfer of invoice data for accounting purposes is in the meantime a standard practice. In contrast, upstream processes, such as documenting the performance data with a subsequent release by the customer, are frequently still dependent on hard copy. These manual processing steps are time-intensive and error-prone, and oftentimes entail great post-processing efforts.

With the new PDG application for gathering performance data, suppliers document the services provided on site with a mobile terminal device (smartphone or tablet). The customer likewise grants its approval directly on the mobile device. In this way, the performance data is immediately available without a time lag in the ERP system for the invoicing process. As a result of the always current, real-time information about the actual fulfillment level for the services to be provided, resources can be managed in a demand-oriented way. This creates transparency and allows for flexible responses to unforeseen changes. In addition, the intuitively operated application for a tablet or smartphone offers a high degree of user acceptance.

The Technology and Applications Forum Collaborate is held every year by the Oracle Application User Group (OAUG) in the USA, and focuses on the Oracle community. This year the conference is taking place from April 7–9, 2019 in San Antonio.
Besides an accompanying technical exhibition, participants have the opportunity in many specialized presentations to catch up on the newest trends and development related to Oracle applications and technologies. The PDG presentation entitled “Mobile Applications to Digitalize Business Processes with Integration to Oracle ERP” also discusses the technical implementation. The mobile interface was developed with Oracle APEX and integrates seamlessly into Oracle ERP software.
